SUNDAY COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection amounted to £707.16. We are grateful for your generous support of the Parish. Banker's Orders amount to an average of £4400 per month.

BANKER'S ORDERS, GIFT AID AND WILLS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £298.57 - many thanks.

READERS
Next weekend's readers are Pauline Taylor Vigil, Sarah Guthrie 10.00 am and Harry Sammons and Marade Griffin 12.00 noon.

PARISH OFFICE
The Parish Office is normally staffed each weekday from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm. Outside of these times, there may be someone there or you can leave a message on 464063.

MASS LEAFLETS
Mass Leaflets are our way of providing you with the Sunday Readings and the music for Mass. You are welcome to take one home or to the housebound. If you are not doing so, we would be grateful if you would return the Mass leaflets to the boxes for use at a later Mass. Please try not to leave bulletins and leaflets on the seat. It makes you and the Church look untidy. Thanks.

DOORS OPEN DAY
Saint Peter's is one of Ayrshire's seventy finest buildings open to the public on Sunday 7 September. The Church will be open - as it usually is - to visitors from the 12.00 noon Mass till about 4.00 pm.

THURSDAY CLUB
The Thursday Club resumes on Tuesday 26 August from 1.00 to 3.00 pm in the Parish Centre.

PARISH VOLUNTEERS
Bishop Cunningham will celebrate a Mass of thanksgiving for all the hard work and dedication given to the
Church by all volunteers in parishes. The Mass will be celebrated in Saint Margaret's Cathedral, Ayr on Sunday 14 September at 3.30 pm. A good attendance would be greatly appreciated as this is the first time a Mass of thanksgiving has been held. The is a list in the porch to ascertain whether a bus should be ordered. Alternatively, the 585 bus from Ardrossan drops within ten minutes of the Cathedral.

ANNUAL GALLOWAY MUSIC FESTIVAL MASS
The annual Galloway Music Festival Mass celebrating the gift of music and bringing musicians together to share and celebrate their ministry, is being held in the grounds of Smithstone House, Kilwinning on Sunday 17 August at 2.30 pm. All musicians and singers are invited to take part and everyone is welcome to attend. For those wanting to join in leading the music, there will be a rehearsal from 1.00 pm. Bring your family and friends and a picnic for after. For further information, please contact Michael McCulloch.

MARY'S MEALS - PLEASE CAN YOU HELP?
Mary's Meals works with some of the poorest pe
ople in the third world countries such as Malawi, Liberia, Peru, Ecuador, India and Uganda, amongst others. Mary's Meals offers help by collecting unwanted goods. They then send the goods donated as aid or raise funds through shops for overseas projects. The annual uplift visit will be on Sunday 7 September. From Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 September, your donations can be left in the foyer of the Parish Centre but not at other times as we need to use the Centre and the foyer. If you are unable to bring your own goods, please contact Frank Coulter. Mary's Meals will also sell raffle tickets. Currently targeted items are clothing and bedding in any condition; other items such as shoes, bags, jewellery and accessories, books, records, CDs, DVDs, bric-a-brac, ornaments, china, kitchenware, pictures, curtains, small rugs in saleable condition. Mary's Meals have to dispose of a large amount of donated items such as furniture which only adds to its overheads. On average, two black bags of clothing including rags earns £6. The sum of £5.30 feeds a child for a year! Mary's Meals could not survive without your kind donations. Photographs of recent years' visits by Scottish International Relief are on the Pictures page.

THROUGHCARE TEAM
North Ayrshire Council Social Services Throughcare Team is looking to recruit supported carers for young people leaving care. An allowance and ongoing support are available for anyone able to offer a place within their home for a young person. If you are interested please contact Tom Cullen on 01294 602527.

TRIP TO OBERAMMERGAU IN 2010
Is anyone interested in going to the Passion Play in Oberammergau in 2010? It could be a seven day tour of Bavaria with one or two nights in Oberammergau or a three day trip to Munich and Oberammergau, depending on interest. If you are interested, please contact Janet in Beith. Some interest is being shown and a travel agent is working on it. The Play runs from May till October, so it is a matter of finding dates, prices, and so on. At the moment, the organisers are only looking for interest, not bookings.

ANNUAL WHITHORN PILGRIMAGE
The annual pilgrimage to Saint Ninian's Cave will be on Sunday 31 August. Mass will be celebrated at 4.00 pm at the Cave and at 4.45 pm in the Church in Whithorn for those who cannot make the journey to the Cave. It is difficult to gauge interest. There is a list at the Stall and we will either share the bus from Saltcoats or get a bus of our own. It is even more difficult to guess the price as it depends on numbers and so on. If you would like to go, then names have to be in this week. Putting your name down does not guarantee a place as it depends on numbers.

FATHER JOHN FUND
Ronnie and Marie Cairns, family and friends have raised £150 for the Father John Fund. Donations of £100 and £60 have also been received.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT

It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity with the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members, to work together to prevent the
physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
