OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £834.15. We are grateful for your generous support of the Parish. Banker's Orders amount to an average of £4000 per month.

BANKER'S ORDERS, GIFT AID AND WILLS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £397.76 - many thanks.

LENT
The holy season of Lent, our journey to Easter, continues. During Lent, we should do penance, making time for prayer, penance and sharing. Children are good at 'giving up something for Lent' but it would be good for all of us - so would a Saturday morning Mass or a Thursday evening Mass during Lent. During Lent, the Stations of the Cross will be celebrated on a Friday morning before Mass at 9.40 am. Towards the end of Lent, the parishes in the Three Towns will have a time set aside for a Service of Forgiveness. It would be good to start thinking about it now.

REQUESTED MASSES
All Masses requested will be said. If you ask for a specific day, that day might not be possible but the Mass will be offered as close to the day as is possible. Some Masses are said by
Father John in Italy and some by Father Gabriel in the convent in Largs.

THE WEE BOX
The Wee Box campaign from the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) urges us to fast - as did the Holy Father - and share whatever we save on luxuries with those who don’t even have enough to eat. Pick up a Wee Box at the stall and take one for the youngsters at home.

OZANAM DAY CENTRE
The Ozanam Day Centre in Glasgow is run by the Saint Vincent de Paul Society  to assist homeless men and women. We have been asked to assist in the collection of toiletries during Lent so these might be distributed as a very practical way of assisting the great many people who use the Centre. Saint Peter’s parishioners have donated generously to this appeal in previous years and it is hoped that you will do so once again. The Conference thanks you in anticipation of your kind assistance. A box for donations of all kinds of toiletries will be available in the Church porch during Lent.

GALLOWAY NEWS
Galloway News is available at stall. There is an obituary of Canon Farrington and some interesting articles about the Diocese.

NORTH AYRSHIRE SCHOOLS FLAGSHIP CONCERT
The North Ayrshire Schools Flagship Concert will be held at 4.00 pm on Sunday 22 March in the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow. It will be a spectacular concert featuring over 500 pupils from North Ayrshire schools with special guests from Uddevalla Music School, Sweden, Tickets costing £8 and £6 concession are available from the box office on 0141 353 8000.

READERS
Next weekend's readers are Katrina Pollock at 5.30 pm, Annie Watt at 10.00 am and Ronnie Cairns at 12.00 noon.

CROSSHOUSE HOSPITAL
A letter from Kenneth Gibson MSP reminds us that the Data Protection Act prevents the Health Board from passing the names and religious denomination of patients to anyone - including the Hospital Chaplains - unless the patient asks for the priest to be notified that they are in hospital. We have appointed Reverend Deacon Gordon Tustin of St Joseph’s Church, Kilmarnock as the chaplain at Crosshouse Hospital. You can contact him on 07515 698 180 if you or a family member are going into Crosshouse. The hospital will not do it. If you or a family member is housebound, please let us know - unless told, we don’t know about it.

HOSPITALITÉ DE NOTRE DAME DE LOURDES
Hospitalité de Notre Dame de Lourdes is the group which organises the pilgrimage to Lourdes every second year. Our group will be going on pilgrimage from 6 to 13 July this year. In order to ensure the pilgrimage is a success, the group is in urgent need of trained nurses and carers to work as part of a medical team caring for the sick pilgrims of our diocese. Male and female helpers for general duties are also required. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Debbie Gillon on 07531 016747. Thank you.
We have the booking details for ordinary pilgrims.

PARISH RECORDS
Thank you to those who have already filled a Parish Records form in. The list we are using to find you all is from Father Lynch’s time and is pretty much out of date with people moving, changing phone numbers, moving in ans so on. Would you oblige us by filling in a form and placing it in the box? Even if you think that we have your information, we are lacking some basic information such as first names, postcodes and so on. If your phone number is ex-directory, please mark that. All information will be kept confidential. This means that you cannot phone here for someone’s address - data protection does not allow that. Filling in the form is simply a polite request to assist us – you certainly do not have to do it.

SAINT PETER’S CHILDREN’S CENTRE
A few afternoon places are available in the nursery starting in August 2009 for children who have reached their third birthday. For more information and to register phone Josephine.

SMITHSTONE HOUSE EVENTS
Smithstone House is offering a Lenten series on Mondays commencing on 2 March from 7.00 to 9.00 pm based on the Year of Paul. This is a very useful Lenten exercise. On Saturday 14 March from 10 am to 4.00 pm, there will be prayer and reflection with Holy Mass.

PARISH CENTRE
Complaints have been made about the behaviour of children in the foyer of the Parish Centre on a Sunday morning and anxiety has been expressed that some of the little ones will be hurt by the behaviour of others. Please try to ensure that your children behave well and that they are properly supervised.

50/50 CLUB
Could all 50/50 Club members who still intend to renew their membership for 2009 please try and do so as soon as possible? We have held up the prize draw for January to give some fifty or so members time to renew but we hope to make the draw by next week. Anyone who still wishes to join can do so by phoning the promoter, Mrs Sammons and making arrangements for payment. Thanks.

SAINT PETER’S SCHOOL
Please note that if you are delivering children or grandchildren to Saint Peter's School there is now a barrier in place to ensure the children are safe in front of the school. It will be opened only when children are safely in school.

SCOTTISH CEILIDH FOR MALAWI
There will be a Scottish Ceilidh for Malawi in Saint Matthew’s Academy, Saltcoats on Friday 27 March. Tickets which include a buffet supper and a welcoming drink cost £10. Please contact Mrs Hughes at the school on 606680 to book your tickets. This is a very popular event so don’t delay.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone. It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity
with the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
