OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to
£740.84. We are grateful for your generous support of the Parish. Banker's
Orders amount to an average of £4000 per month.
BANKER'S ORDERS,
GIFT AID AND WILLS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us
with the safe handling of cash. Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax,
then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Would you
consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will? The recession is hitting everyone.
Thanks for the support you manage to give the Parish.
PARISH
CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted

LEGION
OF MARY TEAM FROM IRELAND
The Legion of Mary team from Ireland gives very many
thanks to all who assisted in hosting, catering or entertaining. The team thoroughly
enjoyed their time with us. The team visited 2407 houses in Ardrossan though at
about half they got no reply. No one in the Town was hostile to them and they
were received with courtesy. Equally we hope that they did not offend or antagonise
anyone.
50-50 CLUB
A few members of the 50/50 Club still need to bring

Myriame Sammons for information.

SAINT PETER’S WEBSITE – FOUR YEARS
OLD
Saint Peter's website was launched four years ago on 13 July 2005. The
site has nearly 1000 pages, 625 pictures, 267 bulletins between 1960 and 2009,
over 7000 links, some audio and video clips and been viewed in 45 countries by
over 40600 visitors. It contains many articles on past and present spiritual and
community life in Saint Peter's. Canon
Matt and the website author are very grateful to those who have accessed
the site, lent photographs, passed on stories, identified errors, made suggestions
and expressed compliments. The aims of the site are to make parishioners aware
of current events and record our history. If you can help with this project, please
contact WebsiteAuthor@SaintPeterinChains.net.
SAINT
BRENDAN’S PARISH, SALTCOATS
The closing Mass in Saint Brendan's Church will
be offered on Monday 20 July at 7.00pm. Everyone is invited. Please keep the Parishioners
of Saint Brendan’s in your prayers. This is a very painful time for them. The
Bishop’s Letter to the Parishioners can be read by clicking here.
FATHER
STEPHEN SHARKEY
Father Stephen Sharkey is presently in Helmand province in
Afghanistan. He has requested our help and prayers for the troops. Many of our
young soldiers are without support from home so we have decided to create shoebox
style packages for them. A large box will be in the porch of the Church for any
donations you can spare. For these packages we need empty shoes boxes, toiletries
but no aerosols please, sweets but no chocolate, loaf cakes such as tea bread
and banana bread and magazines. Please remember that some of our soldiers are
female. Also if you would like to write to a soldier, feel free to drop a letter
in the box. Thank you in advance for your support.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY
We
would like to thank all who have volunteered this past year to allow our excellent
Children’s Liturgy program to continue. We look forward to working with you again
next year. As always, we are looking for more volunteers to be able to continue
the Liturgy program. If your child is joining our Liturgy at any stage next year,
please consider volunteering. If there are any sixteen or seventeen year olds
that would consider volunteering, please contact Annie Watt or the Parish Office
on 464063. Thank you.
RETREAT
There
are four places available for the retreat to Drumalis, Larne on 18 to 20 September.
For more information, contact Lettie Anderson.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND
VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned
with the lives, safety, wholeness and well-being of each individual person within
God's purpose for everyone. It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all
ages who are involved in whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is
the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
