Pope Benedict XVI will visit the United Kingdom from
Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 September. The Pope will spend Thursday 16 in Scotland.
He will celebrate Mass in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow in the early evening of that
day - the only public event. The Office for the Papal Visit has written to say
that tickets will be available, transport will be arranged, no private cars will
permitted within 45 minutes walk of the Park, shuttle buses will bring people
to and from the Park to the designated bus parking area. All of the arrangements
have to be finalised with Glasgow City Council and Strathclyde Police. Full details
will be made public soon and we are urged not to make any private arrangements
until full information is available.
PAPAL VISIT COLLECTION
There are
Gift Aid forms you can use for the Papal Visit collection. If you put something
in the collection, please fill in a form and drop it in. An envelope with 'Papal
Visit' can be used to contribute at any time. Our total to date is £756.90.

Visit and is available free at the stall.

in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary 4. After
the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre.
At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for our Parish Centre

EVENING SAIL TO ARRAN
There will be an evening sail to Arran
on Thursday 22 July. The ferry will leave Ardrossan Harbour at 6.00 pm and we
will stay on board at Brodick then return to Ardrossan at 8.15 pm. We will meet
at Ferry Terminal where you can buy your own tickets. Feel free to call off if
weather is bad. Bring a picnic supper and a little to share. We can meet on deck
and enjoy the evening sail. This is the poor man’s substitute for the Waverley
which is not calling at Ardrossan this year.
WORLD YOUTH DAY 2011 - MADRID
World
Youth Day is an international festival of Catholic faith with Pope Benedict XVI
and thousands of young people from all over the world. In 2011, a group will be
taking part from Galloway Diocese. It will leave on 11 August, travel through
the port of Santander and spend a weekend in the city of Salamanca. They will
then travel to Madrid to be with the Pope from 16 to 21 August. Once the Pope
celebrates the final Mass, the Galloway group will leave Spain and arrive back
home on 23 August. To take part in this event, you must be sixteen years old by
the 31 July 2011. The total cost of the trip will be £800. Booking forms
are available from Father Martin Chambers on 01563 533587 or Mhartino2004@yahoo.co.uk.
To book a place a non-refundable deposit of £50 should be sent to Father
Martin by 1 August 2010.
ANNUAL DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO WHITHORN

will be celebrated at Saint Ninian’s Cave at 4.00 pm and at the Church in the
town at 4.45 pm.
RENA

some time to volunteer office skills or drive the van, please phone 07743 497115
during office hours.
FRESH START
Fresh Start is a project to give starter
packs to people moving from homelessness into permanent housing. The packs include
towels, soap, cutlery, light bulbs, tin openers, soap, toothpaste and so on. Leaflets
are available and there will be a box in the porch. Some of these items will have
to be new to be suitable. Contact Sadie O’Reilly or phone 07563 724421 to volunteer
your help or to ask for more information.

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul would like to invite any interested
person over eighteen years of age to join Saint Peter’s Conference and take
part in the work of the Society in making contact with and assisting those
who need help or support in the local Community of Ardrossan. This involves
attending the weekly meeting on a Monday evening which lasts about one hour,
taking a turn in assisting with the box collection after Sunday Masses and
visiting those who have requested assistance normally in twos no more than
one hour during the week. If you feel you may be able to help with this work,
please give your name and telephone number to any member of the Society. Thank
you for your help.

the Saint Vincent de
Paul Society for the use of the Parish Centre.
PORTABLE APPLIANCE

items in the Church, Parish Centre and house every year. These include kettles,
toasters and so on. We are looking for someone qualified to do this and are happy
to discuss the costs.
