PAPAL VISIT ARRANGEMENTS
So far we have 87 confirmed requests for invitations for the Papal Visit on
16 September. Since 100 tickets
have been requested, there are a few spare places. The Invitations will be
sent out to those on the list along with details of the transport arrangements.
The cost of the bus and the Pilgrim Pack - Mass Book, DVD and so on
- for everyone in Scotland is fixed at £20 per person regardless of distance.
We will look for this when we send out the invitations. Please be aware, however,
that help can be given to cover the expense. Individual transport is not permitted,
nor are people not with a registered group - we are Group 207 - nor unaccompanied
under-18s because of Child Protection rules. Because of security, the police
insist that we hold a list of the name and contact details of everyone going
to Bellahouston. It stays with us and will not be shared. Please remember
that it will be a long afternoon and evening and is in the open-air. A folding
seat, food and warm clothes would be useful. Although the
deadline has passed, some extra tickets have been requested so we may be able
to accommodate you if you let us know as soon as possisble. Details of transport
arrangements will be with us soon.
MUSIC FOR THE PAPAL MASS
James MacMillan has composed new music for the Mass at Bellahouston Park on
16 September with Pope Benedict.
If you would like an opportunity to hear this music
and rehearse it with the other music being sung at Bellahouston Park then
some of the choir from Galloway Diocese will be offering workshops.
There will be a music workshop at Saint Joseph’s Church,
Hill Street, Kilmarnock on Sunday 5 September at 5 pm and music workshops
on Sunday 12 September at 4.00 pm in Saint Mary’s Church, Saltcoats then at
7.00 pm in Saint Margaret’s Cathedral, Ayr.
All are welcome to come and listen and rehearse. No
special singing skill or experience is needed.
HEART SPEAKS UNTO HEART
Heart Speaks Unto Heart is a booklet to prepare for the Papal Visit and is
available free at the stall.

MARY'S MEALS
- PLEASE CAN YOU HELP?
Mary's Meals
work with some of the poorest people in Third World countries. They
offer help by collecting unwanted or unused clothing and bedding - all textiles
- and turning them into funds to carry out their work overseas. For better
clothing, they receive a better price but even from rags they can raise money.
Last year, the clothing collections generated the amazing sum of approximately
£76,000! The raffle raised the amazing sum of £154000. Black poly
bags filled with textiles could generate enough funds to feed a child in Malawi
for a year - approximately £6.15. Mary's
Meals are currently feeding over 400000 worldwide and with your
help we hope to continue expanding our feeding programme. A room in the Parish
Centre will be available all day on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 August for donations.
The van will uplift after the Masses on Sunday 29 August. Mary's
Meals regrets that they are unable to accept bric-a-brac or collect
in the evening. Raffle tickets will be sold after all Masses that weekend.

It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with the Church and its organisations. As a Church community,
