OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £727.27 - many thanks.
We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to
which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £344.08
- many thanks.
BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
Would you like collection envelopes for the coming year? Please contact the
Parish Office on 464063 or add your name to the list at the stall. Standing
Orders made through your bank are handier. Forms are available. If you pay
tax and sign a Gift Aid form then the Church is entitled to the tax paid on
your contributions. We apply and it is paid directly to the Church. You need
do nothing except sign a form. Could you consider putting a little bit more
in your collection? A new form is available.
GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give
to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.
WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
FUNDRAISING
Following my Financial Statement and my appeal about the work we need to do
on the church building, there is a 'brown envelope' collection. Please take
one home and read what is in it. Take as many as you like and drop them in
the collection bag. We received £2460 this week to make the total so
far £10770. I am very grateful.
CHURCH HEATING
A new boiler is required and soon to be installed. I will keep you posted.
The first estimate is in - wait for it - £17479 + vat.
READERS
Next
weekend's readers are Celia Andrew at 5.30
pm, Margaret Harvey at 10.00 am and Angela Body at 12 noon.

FATHER

Gabriel’s family for their needs and to help them organise a Memorial
Mass for him. They need to feed everyone who comes to the village.
50/50 CLUB

47
Peggy Duffy, 169 Janie McGonigle, 109 Margaret Harvey, 154 Marion Kelly.
Winners' cheques are in the post. Members should ensure the Promoter is aware
of any change of address and keep details up-to-date. We have a few vacancies
for new members. Please contact the Promoter, telephone 469006 or give details
to Canon
Matt. The next draw takes place in mid-August. Your membership
of the 50/50 Club is appreciated.
SAINT PETER’S RAINBOWS AND BROWNIES
Girls who will be five years and wish to start Rainbows on Monday nights and
girls who will be seven years and wish to start Brownies on Monday nights
in the Parish Centre, should contact the Leader-in-Charge, Mrs Sammons or
telephone 469006 in order to join the waiting list. We restart on the first
Monday in September.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO WHITHORN
The diocesan pilgrimage to Whithorn will take place on Sunday 28 August. Mass
will be celebrated at Saint Ninian’s Cave at 4.00 pm and in the town church
at 4.45 pm.
PARISH BARBECUE FOR CHRISTIAN AID
There
will be a parish barbecue on Sunday 31 July from 2.00 to 5.00 pm. We didn’t
take part in the door-to-door collection this year as Canon
Matt is not keen on sending people out to go round doors. The
Sunday afternoon barbecue fundraiser is open to everyone and is supported
by the Ardrossan Churches Group. Tickets are available at £1 for Christian
Aid to give us an indication of numbers. Food and so on is available to purchase
and there will be some fundraising stalls. Sales tables are available - you
keep the proceeds - at £10 per table. Prizes are needed for a raffle.
Please hand them in to the office. We hope to have a bouncy castle and so
on.
THE NEW MISSAL
A document titled Getting To Know The New Roman Missal can be accessed by
clicking here. You
might find it useful. We begin to use the new translation in September and
the new texts for the prayers and so on will be introduced in Advent. There
will be pew cards' available for the start. Please use them and leave them
in the pews. If you wish a pocket or handbag copy, they will be available
from the stall. At the beginning, the responses and the slightly new versions
of the Gloria and Creed are all that matter. Please God we will get used to
responding “and with your spirit” instead of “and also with you" very
soon. The Readings are not changing but they will conclude with “The Word
of the Lord” instead of “This is the Word of the Lord.”. The new Altar Missal
is ordered. It was a gift from a family in the parish. Very soon, Sunday and
even Daily Missals will be available to order. Magnificat will use the new
translations as they are introduced.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30.
Please leave plenty of time.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for
our Parish Centre debt.
EVENING SAIL TO ARRAN
Weather permitting, we will do the evening sail to Arran again this year on
Wednesday 27 July. The boat leaves at 6.00 pm and comes back around 8.15 pm.
Alternatively, you can go earlier and come back with us. There is no need
to book - just turn up, buy a ticket, bring a picnic and enjoy the evening.
More information will be given later.
MARY'S
MEALS
Mary's
Meals work
with some of the poorest people in Third World countries. They offer help
by collecting unwanted or unused clothing and bedding - all textiles - and
turning them into funds to carry out their work overseas. Our annual collection
of used clothes and textiles only takes place on the weekend of 27 and 28
August. Now would be a good time to get ready.
SAINT ANDREW’S ACADEMY REUNION
There is a class reunion planned for the year group who started Saint Andrew's
Academy, Saltcoats in 1986. It will take place on Saturday 10 September in
Saint Peter's Parish Centre. Anybody from that year group interested in going,
please contact Alan Burns on 07977 124524 or Louise (Breen) Clarke 07779 581840.
PIE IN THE PARK
PIE (Positive, Inclusive and Empowering) Arts is holding an arts event in
Eglinton Park, Kilwinning on Sunday 14 August from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm. The

as well as a show for parents/carers at the end of the day. Entry costs £2.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
