GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.

WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

Next weekend's readers are Margaret Munn at 5.30 pm, Robert Cooper at 10.00 am and Marade Griffin at 12 noon.

ALTAR SERVERS

CHILDREN'S LITURGY
The Children's Liturgy begins again at 10.00 am Mass today. Our Liturgy is run by volunteers on a rota basis. We are in need of some new volunteers to help us in running the groups. This would be and ideal time to join as we are having an evening to apply for Disclosure for volunteers as mentioned below. If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office on 464063 and leave your name and number. Thanks.

SUNDAY TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Sharon McLaughlin’s team.

CHURCH HEATING
A new boiler is soon to be installed. I will keep you posted. Estimates have now been received. They varied from £8000 + vat to £23000 + vat. Churches do not get vat back! The bottom line is that we need to find £10000 to restore the Church heating system. Any help you can give would be very, very useful. In September I will re-issue the brown envelopes. A donation of £20+ - and gift-aided if you can - would ease the pain. Some fundraising by parish groups would be a great help. The first such event is a Concert Evening arranged by the Parish Lourdes Group.

CONCERT EVENING IN AID OF CHURCH HEATING
There will be a Concert Evening in the Parish Centre on Friday 23 September from 7.30 to 11.00 pm. Tickets cost £5 and the entry fee includes a light supper. There will be a bar. Tickets are available from the stall and after Masses.

APPLICATION FOR DISCLOSURE
All volunteers who do not have Disclosure are invited to attend a meeting in Saint John's Curch Hall, Stevenston on Wednesday 7 September at 7.00 pm to complete the application form. This includes Eucharistic Ministers, Children’s Liturgy volunteers and Legion of Mary. If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office on 464063 and leave you name and number. Thanks.

SCOTTISH CATHOLIC INTERNATIONAL AID FUND (SCIAF)
SCIAF is holding catch-up sessions for anyone interested in finding out more about its work. You can meet parish volunteers in your diocese and chat to SCIAF staff about the issues that matter to your parish. For more information, phone 0141 354 5524, email rlamb@sciaf.org.uk or visit www.sciaf2.org.uk/parish.

CANON MATT
Canon Matt will be on holiday from Monday 29 August to Thursday 15 September. The weekends will be covered by Father John Kinsler. Father Bell (Saltcoats - 01294 463461) and Father Donnelly (Dalry and Beith - 01294 832181) and Father Boland (West Kilbride - 01294 823188) will be on call for emergencies or funerals. Weekday Mass will be in
Saint Mary's Church, Saltcoats. The Parish Office will be staffed as usual.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO WHITHORN
The diocesan pilgrimage to Whithorn will take place on Sunday 28 August. Mass will be celebrated at Saint Ninian’s Cave at 4.00 pm and in the town church at 4.45 pm.

ANNUAL NATIONAL PILGRIMAGE IN HONOUR OF SAINT JOHN OGILVIE
The annual pilgrimage to Carfin in honour of Saint John Ogilvie takes place on Sunday 4 September. The Mass, celebrated by Cardinal O’Brien and the bishops, takes place at 3.00 pm.

LOURDES WATER
There is some Lourdes Water available at the stall. A suggested donation for the bottle only is £1.

PRIZE BINGO NIGHT
A prize Bingo night will be held in the Parish Centre on Friday 2 September at 7.00 pm for a 7.30 pm start. All are welcome

SOCIAL EVENTS
During the winter months, we need to organise a few social events - for the fun of it. The sail to Arran and the barbecue were well attended and enjoyed. We have very heavy expenditure on a new heating boiler for the church and the eventual painting of the church. Suggestions will always be welcome.

THE NEW MISSAL
A document titled Getting To Know The New Roman Missal can be accessed by clicking here. You might find it useful. We begin to use the new translation in September and the new texts for the prayers and so on will be introduced in Advent. There will be pew cards' available for the start. Please use them and leave them in the pews. If you wish a pocket or handbag copy, they will be available from the stall. At the beginning, the responses and the slightly new versions of the Gloria and Creed are all that matter. Please God we will get used to responding “and with your spirit” instead of “and also with you" very soon. The Readings are not changing but they will conclude with “The Word of the Lord” instead of “This is the Word of the Lord.”. The new Altar Missal is ordered. It was a gift from a family in the parish. Very soon, Sunday and even Daily Missals will be available to order. Magnificat will use the new translations as they are introduced.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND
A diocesan pilgrimage to the Holy Land, led by Bishop Cunningham, has been organised for 15 to 22 October 2012. It is expected that this pilgrimage group will be quite small in number - between 30 and 40 pilgrims - therefore early booking is recommended. For more information, please see the poster and leaflets provided. Further details he obtained by contacting Mancunia Travel Limited.

MARY'S MEALS
Mary's Meals work with some of the poorest people in Third World countries. They offer help by collecting unwanted or unused clothing and bedding - all textiles - and turning them into funds to carry out their work overseas. Clothes and textiles can be left at the Parish Centre from Saturday - in bags, please. All who work for Mary’s Meals are volunteers so every penny raised goes to feed hungry children.

PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30. Please leave plenty of time.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for our Parish Centre debt.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone. It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity
with the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
