which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £332.55
- many thanks.
BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes for 2012-13 are now available at the stall.
GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give
to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.
WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

pm, Angela Body at 10.00 am and Alfie Agostini at 12 noon.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY
Well
done to all the children who worked very hard on the Easter Display and thank
you to all the volunteers who assisted. The work is now displayed around the
Church and on the Parish website. Next Sunday's Children's Liturgy helpers
are Elaine Shaw and Maria Paterson for the pre-5s, Michelle Morton and Ann
Cassidy for primaries 1 and 2, Jacqueline Smith and Michelle Millar for primary
3 and Sharon McLaughlin and Lorraine Cullinane for Primary 4. The Children's
Liturgy is run by volunteers on a rota basis. We are in need of more volunteers
for the coming August session. Anyone can volunteer! As it takes a little
time to gain disclosure, we need to think ahead. Please consider becoming
a volunteer, especially if your child is currently in Primary 3 as they will
be taking part in the Sacramental Preparation next year or if your child will
be joining our three to five year olds Liturgy Group in August. If you are
interested, please contact the Parish Office on 464063.
LAPEL
CROSSES
Cardinal O’Brien called on all Catholics to 'wear a cross with pride' these
days. We have a few lapel crosses available at the stall.
CANON MARTIN POLAND
Congratulations to Father Martin Poland, our Dean, who has been elected to
the Chapter of Canons on the retirement of Canon Pat McSorley. The Canons
are the six senior priests of the diocese who are the advisors of the Bishop.
ABBOT CHARLES
Abbot Charles is on a visit for a few days - really just here for a long weekend.
He returns to the Monastery on Monday evening, but he will be back in June.
MORE LEAD STOLEN
More lead has been stoled from the Church roof and more damage has been done.
We will get it repaired yet again. We replace the lead with a cheaper substitute.
There appears to be no way of stopping these thefts.
ALTARE PRIVILEGIATUM
Altare
Privilegiatum, carved into our High Altar, means 'A Privileged Altar'. When
Holy Mass is offered at that altar then those who attend Mass can receive
a Plenary Indulgence by piously hearing the Scriptures and performing some
special religious duty on the same day - the rosary, Stations of the Cross
and so on.
SAINT
BRIDGET'S CHURCH, KILBIRNIE
Saint Bridget's Church celebrates its one-hundred and fiftieth anniversary
this year. As part of the celebration, there will be an exhibition of photographs
of the Church and Saint Bridget's School in Kilbirnie Library in the town's
Avils Place. It runs for a month starting on Tuesday 10 April. More details
can be seen at www.GerardBoyle.com.
SPECIAL
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (SPRED)
There will be a prize Bingo fundraiser for SPRED in Saint John’s Church Hall,
Stevenston on Wednesday 25 April at 7.00 pm. All are welcome.
STEVENSTON MUSICAL SOCIETY SPRING CONCERT
Stevenston Musical Society's next concert will be here in Saint Peter’s Church
on Sunday 29 April at 7.30 pm. Guest artistes include Saint Peter’s Primary
School choir. Tickets, costing £5 for adults and £1 for children)
are available from members or at the door of the Parish Centre.
CHURCH REPAIRS
We have a lot of maintenance to take care of. Lead has been stolen again and
the Church needs painting. Brown envelope donations of £120 bring the
total to £1859.50.
AYRSHIRE HOSPICE LAND O’BURNS MIDNIGHT WALK
You are invited to join Frank Bruno MBE in the Land o' Burns Sponsored Midnight
Walk on Saturday 19 May, Ayrshire Hospice's largest community fundraiser when
you will have the choice of completing either the full route of thirteen miles
or shortened versions of around nine or four miles starting and finishing
at Ayr Racecourse. There will be lots of entertainment before and during the
walk and a welcomed revival coffee and bacon roll at the end. For further
information or to register for the walk please call the Fundraising Office
on 01292 288488 or visit www.ayrshirehospice.org.
USED PRINTER CARTRIDGES AND OLD MOBILE PHONES
There is a large green box in the foyer of the Parish Centre and a small box
at the stall where you can place all old printer cartridges and mobile phones
for us to recycle. Through recycling these we can raise some much needed funds.
Thanks.
WALKING WITH THE POOR
Father Martin Chambers has written a book called Walking With The Poor giving
information on his time in South America. The book is on sale at £8
and all proceeds are for his Mission Project.
BROWNIES
The 1st Ardrossan Brownies are looking for new members. Girls aged between
seven and ten are welcome to join the group which meets in Stanley School
on Mondays from 6.00 to 7.30 pm. Please contact Maria Paterson on or phone

wedding anniversary or a special birthday can be ordered at the stall. The
price of the parchment and postage has gone up drastically. We now have to
ask £40 for the Blessing. Please leave plenty of time.
NEW MISSAL
New Missals containing the new Rite are now available at the stall £7.99
or £9.99.
LARGE PRINT MASS BOOKS
Mass Books in Polish are available from the stall. Sunday Readings in most
European languages can be printed from the parish website.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for
our Parish Centre debt.
SUNDAY LUNCH FOR SENIOR PARISHIONERS
The Sunday Lunch for senior parishioners takes place after the 12 noon Mass
today. It is made possible by the generosity of the Saint
Vincent de Paul Society and so many others.
SACRAMENTS OF CONFIRMATION AND FIRST COMMUNION
We have chosen three Sundays this year because of the number of children being
presented for the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion. The dates
are Sundays 13, 20 and 27 May at the 10.00 am Mass.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
