SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
OFFERTORY
COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £744.66 - many thanks.
We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to
which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £301.20
- many thanks.
BANKER'S
ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
GIFT AID
Many thanks for the new Gift Aid forms. It is a vital source of income. All
that is needed is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds
to the Church. We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra
25p for every £1 you give the Church. There is no need to cancel it
or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Pauline Taylor at 5.30
pm and Angela Body at 12 noon.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 1 at 5.30 pm, Group 3 at 10.00
am and Group 6 at 12 noon.
SUNDAY TEAS
There will be no Sunday Teas after 10.00 am Mass on Sundays 26 August
and 2 and 9 September.
CANON MATT HOLIDAY
Canon
Matt will be on holiday from 4 to 20 September.
Dom Charles says he will be here, but Monsignor Dan Hart, retired from Glasgow,
will say the weekend Masses. Father Kinsler is not available.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY
The Children's Liturgy is run by volunteers on a rota basis. We are in need
of more volunteers for the coming August session. Anyone can volunteer! As
it takes a little time to gain disclosure, we need to think ahead. Please
consider becoming a volunteer, especially if your child is currently in Primary
3 as they will be taking part in the Sacramental Preparation next year or
if your child will be joining our three to five year olds Liturgy Group in
August. If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office on 464063.
MARRIAGE
SUNDAY
Sunday 26 August has been designated Marriage Sunday. A letter from the Bishops
restating the position of the Church on the uniqueness and sanctity of marriage
will be read.
CHRISTIAN AID BARBECUE
We
are able to pass over £725 from the Barbecue. If we do it again next
year, we will have to make some readjustment to pricing. Expenses were almost
double what they were last year but, it was a great afternoon - many thanks
to everyone who helped and supported
it.
SUNDAY MASS TIMES
We are continuing discussions - holidays are getting in the road - of trying
to move from nine Sunday Masses in the Three Towns to about six. The sticking
point is ensuring that each parish has a 'Family Mass' and a 'Quieter Mass'
as well as easy access to a Vigil Mass. The aim is to enable us to cover all
the Masses with two priests so that we can continue to offer an uninterrupted
service when fewer priests are available. All three parishes and Churches
will be safeguarded - and need your support - but we cannot sustain all the
Masses in the light of falling numbers of priests and people. In the meantime
there will be a couple of changes to the weekday Masses in Ardrossan before
the winter sets in. Tuesday will probably be the Evening Mass for the Three
Towns rather than Thursday.
CARFIN PILGRIMAGE
The annual pilgrimage to Carfin is on Sunday 9 September. Mass will be celebrated
at 3.00 pm.
LAPEL CROSSES
Cardinal O’Brien called on all Catholics to 'wear a cross with pride' these
days. We have a few lapel crosses available at the stall.
50/50 CLUB
We thank our 50/50 Club members for their continued support of the Club and
the parish of Saint Peter in Chains.
CHURCH
REPAIRS
The help you give for Church repairs by dropping in a white envelope from
time to time is invaluable. We are in the process of getting estimates for
the painting of the Church. Recent donations of £70 bring the total
to £3494.50.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The price of the parchment and postage has gone up
drastically. We now have to ask £40 for the Blessing. Please leave plenty
of time.
NEW MISSAL
New Missals containing the new Rite are now available at the stall £7.99
or £9.99.
LARGE PRINT MASS BOOKS
Mass Books in Polish are available from the stall. Sunday Readings in most
European languages can be printed from the parish website.
NOVENA CANDLES AND GRAVE CANDLES
There is a nice selection of Novena and Grave Candles available at the stall.
ANNUAL
PILGRIMAGE TO WHITHORN
The
annual pilgrimage to Whithorn takes place on Sunday 26 August. Mass will be
celebrated at Saint Ninian’s Cave at 4.00 pm and in Saint Ninian’s Church
at 4.45 pm.
MARY’S
MEALS
The team from Mary's Meals
will be here on Sunday 2 September to collect used clothing, textiles and
so on. They cannot take anything else. Have a wardrobe clear-out to support
this important Charity.
GRAND SUMMER BALL
To assist with funds to take sick pilgrims to Lourdes next July, the Diocesan
Lourdes Hospitalite is holding a Grand Summer Ball and Buffet on Friday 31
August in Saint Joseph's Hall, Kilmarnock from 7.30 to midnight. The cost
is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and children free. If there
is sufficient interest, we can arrange a bus if required. Please contact 469006
for tickets as numbers are limited.
ADVERTISER SUPPORT
Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing
sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores,
Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday
teas.
USED PRINTER CARTRIDGES AND OLD MOBILE PHONES
There is a large green box in the foyer of the Parish Centre and a small box
at the stall where you can place all old printer cartridges and mobile phones
for us to recycle. Through recycling these we can raise some much needed funds.
Thanks.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for
our Parish Centre debt.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
