PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to
£255.69 - many thanks.

RETIRED PRIESTS FUND
The second collection this weekend will be a special collection for the Retired Priests Fund.

BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are available.

GIFT AID
Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church. We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every £1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation. There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.

WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

CHURCH REPAIRS
The help you give for Church repairs by dropping in a white envelope from time to time is invaluable. We are in the process of getting estimates for the painting of the Church. The total stands at £3694.50.

READERS
Next weekend's readers are Elsie Brodie at 5.30 pm, Angela Body at 10.00 am and Tom Reid at 12 noon.

ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 1 at 5.30 pm, Group 4 at 10.00 am and Group 6 at 12 noon.

SUNDAY TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Saint Peter's School team.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY
The Children's Liturgy has restarted for the pre-school 3 to 5 years and the Primary 1 to 3 group. The Sacramental preparation for Primary 4 pupils will begin on Sunday 7 October. Next Sunday's helpers are Jacqueline Waugh and Michelle Champion for the pre-5s and Emma Paterson, Elaine Shaw and Ann Cassidy for primaries 1, 2 and 3.

SAINT ANNE'S GUILD

The next Guild Meeting is on Tuesday 25 September.

SUNDAY MASS TIMES
We are continuing discussions - holidays are getting in the road - of trying to move from nine Sunday Masses in the Three Towns to about six. The sticking point is ensuring that each parish has a 'Family Mass' and a 'Quieter Mass' as well as easy access to a Vigil Mass. The aim is to enable us to cover all the Masses with two priests so that we can continue to offer an uninterrupted service when fewer priests are available. All three parishes and Churches will be safeguarded - and need your support - but we cannot sustain all the Masses in the light of falling numbers of priests and people. In the meantime there will be a couple of changes to the weekday Masses in Ardrossan before the winter sets in. Tuesday will probably be the Evening Mass for the Three Towns rather than Thursday.

PARISH LOURDES GROUP CONCERT
The Parish Lourdes Group is hosting a concert by Largs Operatic Society on Friday 28 September from 7.30 to 11.00 pm in Parish Centre. The cost is £5 which includes a light supper and glass of wine. The proceeds will hlp to take a sick pilgrim to Lourdes in July next year. See the notices in the porch and Parish Centre for more information.

YOUTH FOR LOURDES 2013
Application forms for the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in July 2013 are now available. For more information, please see the poster in the porch or contact the Parish Office.

LAPEL CROSSES
Cardinal O’Brien called on all Catholics to 'wear a cross with pride' these days. We have a few lapel crosses available at the stall.

CHILDREN'S ENROLMENT
The children who will be confirmed and receive Holy Communion for the first time will be 'enrolled' at the 10.00 am Mass and formally begin their preparation for these Sacraments.

SCOTTISH CATHOLIC SAFEGUARDING SERVICE (CHILD PROTECTION) TRAINING AND RAISING AWARENESS
A training session on child protection will be held in the Parish Centre on Sunday 23 September from 2.00 to 3.30 pm. All new and in-post volunteers are asked to attend. The session is for all the volunteers in Saint Mary's Deanery. I look forward to seeing you.  Anne Watt

YEAR OF FAITH
The diocesan Mass to mark the opening of the Year of Faith will take place in Saint Margaret’s Cathedral, Ayr on Sunday 14 October at 3.00 pm.

MASS FOR CATHOLIC TEACHERS
The annual Mass for Catholic teachers in the diocese will take place in Saint Paul’s Church, Ayr on Monday 8 October at 7.00 pm. An invitation is extended to anyone who wishes to participate in this Mass to join Bishop Cunningham and our teachers in acknowledging the importance of Catholic education in the diocese. The theme of the Mass will be Teaching in the Year of Faith.

50/50 CLUB
We thank our members for their continued support of the 50/50 Club and the parish of Saint Peter in Chains.

Due to cancellations, two places have become available on the diocesan pilgrimage to the Holy Land which will take place from 15 to 22 October 2012. Accommodation can either be two single rooms or one twin. If you are interested, please contact Mancunia Travel Limited on 0161 790 6838 or Office184@mancunia.com.

PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can be ordered at the stall. The price of the parchment and postage has gone up drastically. We now have to ask £40 for the Blessing. Please leave plenty of time.

NEW MISSAL
New Missals containing the new Rite are now available at the stall £7.99 or £9.99.

LARGE PRINT MASS BOOKS
Mass Books in Polish are available from the stall. Sunday Readings in most European languages can be printed from the parish website.

NOVENA CANDLES AND GRAVE CANDLES
There is a nice selection of Novena and Grave Candles available at the stall.

SAINT THERÈSA OF LISIEUX - CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS
Michel, a director/writer and Eva, an actor, are touring Scotland for one week only with an excellent performance of a play about Therèse of Lisieux along with a musical rendition of her poems and the prologue of Saint John’s Gospel. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity of a performance here in Saint Peter’s on Sunday 23 September at 7.3 0pm. Tickets costing £5 are payable at the door. All are welcome.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for our Parish Centre debt.

USED PRINTER CARTRIDGES AND OLD MOBILE PHONES
There is now a large green box in the foyer of the Parish Centre and a small box at the stall where you can place all old printer cartridges and mobile phones for us to recycle. Through recycling these we can raise some much needed funds. Thanks.
