OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £744.55 - many thanks. We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.

RETIRED PRIESTS FUND
Last weekend's collection for the
Retired Priests Fund amounted to £651.95 - many thanks.

BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are available.

GIFT AID
Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church. We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every £1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation. There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.

WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

CHURCH REPAIRS
The help you give for Church repairs by dropping in a white envelope from time to time is invaluable. We are in the process of getting estimates for the painting of the Church. The total stands at £3694.50.

READERS
Next weekend's readers are Pauline Taylor at 5.30 pm, Robert Cooper at 10.00 am and Angela Body at 12 noon.

ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 2 at 5.30 pm, Group 5 at 10.00 am and Group 6 at 12 noon.

SUNDAY TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Kathleen Chapman’s team.

80000 VISITS TO SAINT PETER'S WEBSITE
On 23 September, Saint Peter's website had its 80000th visit since its launch on 13 July 2005. The site has over 1550 web pages, 930 pictures, 430 bulletins between 1960 and 2012, 13200 links, some audio and video clips and been viewed in 73 countries. Over 1100 of our deceased relatives and friends are remembered in our Anniversary List. Recently, a Memoriam Cards page was added. The site contains many articles on past and present spiritual and community life in Saint Peter's.
Canon Matt and the website author are very grateful to those who have accessed the site, lent photographs, passed on stories, identified errors, made suggestions and expressed compliments. The aims of the site are to make parishioners and others aware of current events and record our history. If you can help with this project, please contact WebsiteAuthor@SaintPeterinChains.net.

MASS TIMES
We are continuing discussions on Mass times. Your advice leads us to think about 'pairing' Stevenston with Kilwinning and Ardrossan with Saltcoats. All four parishes and Churches will be safeguarded - and need your support - but we cannot sustain all the Masses in the light of falling numbers of priests and people. If Saltcoats has three or two weekend Masses and Ardrossan has two, then if there is only one priest available, it could be managed. The timing of the Masses to enable the priest to get from one place to the other is still at the discussion stage. If we move to two Masses here, it would be the 5.30 pm Vigil and the 10.00 am Mass with perhaps a slight change in time. Plenty of notice will be given before any change takes place. We will soon be publishing the weekday Mass times in both Saltcoats and Ardrossan in each parish bulletin. Tuesday will probably be the evening Mass day for the Three Towns rather than Thursday. The change will be announced.

YOUTH FOR LOURDES 2013
Application forms for the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in July 2013 are now available. For more information, please see the poster in the porch or contact the Parish Office.

LAPEL CROSSES
Cardinal O’Brien called on all Catholics to 'wear a cross with pride' these days. We have a few lapel crosses available at the stall.

YEAR OF FAITH
The diocesan Mass to mark the opening of the Year of Faith will take place in Saint Margaret’s Cathedral, Ayr on Sunday 14 October at 3.00 pm.

CHILDREN'S ENROLMENT
The children who will be confirmed and receive Holy Communion for the first time will be 'enrolled' at the 10.00 am Mass and formally begin their preparation for these Sacraments.

MASS FOR CATHOLIC TEACHERS
The annual Mass for Catholic teachers in the diocese will take place in Saint Paul’s Church, Ayr on Monday 8 October at 7.00 pm. An invitation is extended to anyone who wishes to participate in this Mass to join Bishop Cunningham and our teachers in acknowledging the importance of Catholic education in the diocese. The theme of the Mass will be Teaching in the Year of Faith.

50/50 CLUB WINNERS
Congratulations go to this month's 50/50 Club winners. The following members each win £25 - 150 Margaret Munn, 56 Sadie Sloss, 133 Maria Laird and 215 Jack Madine. The bonus draw winner was 178 Mary Jane White who wins £100 - well done. If you would like the chance to win a prize and help the parish at the same time then join the 50/50 Club and contact the Promoter M Sammons on 01294 469006 now.
We thank our members for their continued support of the 50/50 Club and the parish of Saint Peter in Chains.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND
Due to cancellations, two places have become available on the diocesan pilgrimage to the Holy Land which will take place from 15 to 22 October 2012. Accommodation can either be two single rooms or one twin. If you are interested, please contact Mancunia Travel Limited on 0161 790 6838 or Office184@mancunia.com.

PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can be ordered at the stall. The price of the parchment and postage has gone up drastically. We now have to ask £40 for the Blessing. Please leave plenty of time.

NEW MISSAL
New Missals containing the new Rite are now available at the stall £7.99 or £9.99.

LARGE PRINT MASS BOOKS
Mass Books in Polish are available from the stall. Sunday Readings in most European languages can be printed from the parish website.

NOVENA CANDLES AND GRAVE CANDLES
There is a nice selection of Novena and Grave Candles available at the stall.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for our Parish Centre debt.

USED PRINTER CARTRIDGES AND OLD MOBILE PHONES
There is now a large green box in the foyer of the Parish Centre and a small box at the stall where you can place all old printer cartridges and mobile phones for us to recycle. Through recycling these we can raise some much needed funds. Thanks.

ADVERTISER SUPPORT
Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores, Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday teas.
