LENT
Lent has begun. It is a time of prayer, fasting and sharing.

seen here.

We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to
which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
CATHOLIC EDUCATION SERVICE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Catholic Education Service amounted
to £294.43
- many thanks.
CHURCH
STUDENTS' FUND COLLECTION
Next weekend, we use our second collection for the Church Students' Fund.
There are Gift Aid envelopes for you to use.
SCOTTISH CATHOLIC INTERNATIONAL AID FUND (SCIAF)
The Fourth Sunday of Lent is when we have our annual collection for SCIAF.
CHURCH
REPAIRS
The help you give for Church repairs by dropping in a white envelope from
time to time is invaluable. Recent donations of £30 bring the total
to £5514.50. We have a continuing task in keeping the Church wind and
watertight.
BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
GIFT AID
Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed is that you pay tax.
You simply declare that you give funds to the Church. We do the rest. Why
not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every £1 you give
the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation. There is no
need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Marade Griffin at 5.30
pm and Angela Body at 10.30 am.

SPECIAL
INTENTION
I am sure the Holy Father could do with our prayers in his brave decision
to do what he sees God is asking him to do. Pray also for those whose task
is to elect our next Pope.

SPRED is a journey in faith and friendship with our parishioners who have
learning difficulties. A group meets in Saint John’s Hall, Stevenston on a
Wednesday evening from 7.00 to 9.00 pm. Volunteers are required for the continuing
of this beautiful ministry. No experience is necessary as training will be
given. Could you consider offering yourself during this Year of Faith? If

We will have another group of sixteen children coming from the Ukraine to
Ayrshire from 18 February to 18 March and again we are looking for donations
of new pyjamas, underwear and socks for boys and girls aged nine to fourteen
years. If you have anything to donate or would be interested in finding out

or 07813 650411.
NEW HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR CHERNOBYL CHILDREN'S LIFELINE

during their visit to Ayrshire. We desperately need families for our summer
visit from mid-July to mid-August 2013. If you think you could help in any
way, please or you want some more information, please call Michael Lafferty
on 07813 650411. Michael would be more than happy to give a talk on the charity
to any interested group. Just get in touch or visit www.ccll.org.uk/ayrshire.

Mary's Church, Saltcoats for £10.
YEAR OF FAITH
An adult education course for the Year of Faith will be held in Saint Bride’s,
West Kilbride on some Thursday evenings from 7.30 to 9.00 pm. The next session
is A Church Rooted In The Word of God on 21 February, presented by Father
Willie McFadden. Pope Benedict has called on all Catholics to celebrate a
Year of Faith from October 2012 to October 2013. It is a time to renew our
faith by prayer, by studying our faith and by renewed charity. It is something
we can all do both privately and publically. Our country has lost its faith
and its way. We each must play our part in renewing faith in God’s goodness
and His word. The Year of Faith Diary is available at the stall. It runs from
October 2012 to October 2013 and will be useful. It costs £2.95. To
mark the Year of Faith, the Bishops of Scotland have set up a special website
and social media feeds to help us learn about all that is happening at local,
national and international level and to assist us to grow in faith during
this time of grace. The address is www.YearOfFaithScotland.com
In addition, special services will be provided via Facebook and Twitter, offering
news, points for reflection and ideas on how to mark the Year of Faith. Please
consider following www.facebook.com/yearoffaithscotland
and www.twitter.com/scotyearoffaith.
LOURDES
This year’s Jumbulance pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from 25 April to
4 May. There are places available for both helpers and assisted pilgrims.
The Jumbulance is operated by ACROSS and designed to allow even those who
would be unable to fly the opportunity to go on pilgrimage to Lourdes. At
present, this group is the only one based in our diocese, originating in Hurlford,
but is open to all of Galloway Diocese and indeed beyond. If you would like
to find out more about taking part this year or for future years, please contact
Group Leader Alison Neil on 07749 555955 or amd.neil@virgin.net.
SCOTTISH CHURCHES STARTER PACKS
Starter Packs is an initiative of the Scottish Churches organised locally
by Women's Aid. When people are allocated a house, they very often don’t have
the basic necessities and many tenancies fail as a result. This initiative
tries to provide a starter pack. There is a leaflet explaining our part in
it.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for our Parish Centre debt.

Dasher off Ardrossan will take place on Sunday 24 March at 11.30 am at
the Dasher Memorial opposite the Church. There is also a short service on
board the 9.45 am Arran Ferry on Saturday 23 March over the spot where HMS

teams due to illness, so if you would like to join a team or you and your
family and friends would like to form a team or you would just like more information,
please contact the parish office on 464063.
SAINT
VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

called on more and more to help out people who are in real need. The commitment
is a tough one. It means house visits and the handling of money, advice, food
parcels and so on as well as a weekly meeting for prayer and discussion of
tasks with a high degree of confidentiality. It is not for everyone but there
are tasks which need doing. Please contact Canon Matt who will put you in
touch with the Society

sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores,
