SUNDAY MASS TIMES
Sunday Mass times
in Saint Peter's are 5.30 pm Vigil and 10.30 am. Sunday
Mass times in other local parishes can be
seen here.
SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers
Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the
Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are
available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £929.57 - many thanks.
BUILDING
FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's Building Fund collection amounted to £375.29 - many thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know
if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.

contact Canon
Matt.
A SPECIAL DAY
Today is a special day for Logan, Helena, Ryan, Aiden, Clare Callum Hannah,
Molly, Jessica, Aimee, Liam, Ashton, Emma and Chelsea who are being confirmed
at the 10.30 am Mass. They will also receive Holy Communion for the first
time.
STALL
Confirmation and First Communion gifts are available at the stall.
EMBRACING CHANGE
Embracing Change is the process going on throughout the Diocese as we prepare
for a time when we have fewer priests and a Church being enlivened by Pope
Francis. As has been mentioned, the priests of this Deanery have been meeting
since Christmas to discuss our leadership role in a time of change. Largs
and Millport now share a Parish Priest as do Kilbirnie, Beith and Dalry. Saint
Margaret's in Irvine has closed. The full
text of the notes of our meetings is on the parish website at www.SaintPeterInChains.net.
This might give you a flavour of our thinking and planning. There is also
a brief timetable. The Sunday afternoon times of prayer during Lent were important
and were quite well attended. The next step is a Deanery Pentecost Service
in Saint John’s, Stevenston on Pentecost Sunday, 8 June at 3.00 pm. It is
a celebration of who we are as Church and our shared gifts and abilities.
It is a time of prayer and reflection, leading to an Open Forum to be held
on Sunday 29 June. The venue is yet to be finalised but probably Saint Matthew’s
Academy auditorium. Please get involved by reading the notes, making suggestions
and so on. If you would like a copy of the notes - as opposed to reading them
on the website - please send an email requesting a copy. I’ll happily print
out a copy for anyone who asks. Progress will be reported to you as we go
along. Before Pentecost, we could have a parish meeting to discuss our part
in the service.
BISHOP CUNNINGHAM
Bishop John Cunningham is ill a the moment. Bishop John has had a painful
leg complaint almost all of his time as our Bishop. Because of his ill-health,
he is anxious to retire and his resignation has been received by Rome but
he and we have to wait for a new bishop to be appointed. This is something
else to pray about.
50/50 CLUB
Anyone wishing to join the 50/50 Club, please contact the Promoter on 469006.

Ardrossan. The telephone number is 01294 602720. Please contact the team if
you or someone you know of someone who needs assistance.

The Italian Night was a successful event. Due to the hard work of a few, and
your support, we are able to send £750 to the Clinic run by Dr Lido
Stefani in Rwanda, Africa. This retired surgeon has dedicated his life to
working with very poor people who have few medical facilities.
JAMES McFARLANE SCHOOL GARDEN FAYRE
There will be a Garden Fayre at James McFarlane School on Thursday 29 May
from 10.00 am to 12 noon. There will be arts and crafts, home baking, a raffle,
plants, tea and coffee. All are welcome.
MARAFUN RUN DAY
North Ayrshire Foodbank invites you to join them on Sunday 1 June from noon
to 4.30 pm at Saint
Matthew's Academy, Saltcoats. Walk, trot or run by yourself or with friends
or family. Build a food mountain! For a list of foods needed, please visit
NorthAyrshire.foodbank.org.uk/resources/documents/foodbank.
To receive an exclusive North Ayrshire Foodbank medal, teams or individuals
need to register with each participant raising £10 or more. Register
by sending an email to nafoodbank@btinternet.com stating in the subject line
Marafun Sponsorship Form. All funds raised will be used to combat hunger in
its many forms in North Ayrshire.
LEAVING MASS EARLY
Please don’t leave Mass early as a habit. Sometimes, there is a good reason
but sometimes it looks like “I’ve spent enough of my busy time …”.
BULLETINS AND HYMN SHEETS
Can I ask you, please, to help me keep the Church tidy? I have no idea what
to do with all the stuff lying about the porch but could you please take the
Sunday Bulletin and Hymn Sheets home or put them back on the tables at the
back of the Church? Many thanks.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for our Parish Centre debt.

Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing
sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores,
Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday
