SUNDAY MASS TIMES
Sunday Mass times
in Saint Peter's are 5.30 pm Vigil and 10.30 am. Sunday
Mass times in other local parishes can be
seen here.
SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers
Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the
Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are
available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £748.60 - many thanks.
BUILDING
FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's Building Fund collection amounted to £304.71 - many thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know
if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Julie Coldwell at 5.30
pm and Patricia Milligan at 10.30 am.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Aidan and Calum at 5.30
pm and Group 4 at 10.30 am.
SUNDAY TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Loretta McLardy’s team.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY
The
Children's Liturgy restarts in September.
EMBRACING CHANGE
Embracing Change is the process going on throughout the Diocese as we prepare
for a time when we have fewer priests and a Church being enlivened by Pope
Francis. As has been mentioned, the priests of this Deanery have been meeting
since Christmas to discuss our leadership role in a time of change. Largs
and Millport now share a Parish Priest as do Kilbirnie, Beith and Dalry. Saint
Margaret's in Irvine has closed. Saltcoats now has only one parish. The full
text of the notes of our meetings is on the parish website at www.SaintPeterInChains.net.
This might give you a flavour of our thinking and planning. Please
get involved by reading the notes, making suggestions and so on. If you would
like a copy of the notes - as opposed to reading them on the website - please
send an email requesting a copy. I’ll happily print out a copy for anyone
who asks. The afternoon meeting in Saint Matthew's Academy was very well attended.
We estimated 200 would attend and there were 210 people there! I hope you
found it interesting and informative. We have had good feedback so far. We
still have a long way to go and practical steps will be slow but change is
happening and we are part of it. Even if you couldn’t make the meeting, please
feel involved. Again the full report of the meeting and its various parts
will be on the website and copies can be made available to everyone who asks.
FATHER LYNCH
The tenth anniversary of the death of Father
Michael Lynch took place on Wednesday of last week. Holy
Mass will be offered for him on Thursday evening at 7.00 pm. May he rest in
peace. Mass will be offered for the former Parish Priests next Thursday at
the same time.
SURVIVE-MIVA APPEAL
Survine-Miva is a lay Catholic Charity which supplies transport for missionaries.
I have invited them to make an appeal at Masses here on 19 and 20 July. We
get many requests for appeals and I am afraid I usually turn them down but
this is a Charity which has been around for a long time and I know of the
work it does in Africa, et cetera.
MASS OF GRATITUDE
A Mass of Gratitude requested by Christine McMail for all the cards, prayers
and kindness shown to the family will be offered soon.
RECIPE TO END HUNGER - SCOTTISH CATHOLIC INTERNATIONAL AID FUND (SCIAF)
SCIAF is looking for tasty recipes for a fiftieth anniversary cook book which
will celebrate food from Scotland and around the world. The proceeds from
the sale of the book will help people in poverty to free themselves from hunger.
They’d also love to hear about your memories of SCIAF over the years. Please
send your recipes and/or memories to Elaine Coakley at ECoakley@sciaf.org.uk
by Friday 18 July or post them to SCIAF, 19 Park Circus, Glasgow, G3 6BE.
50/50 CLUB
Many thanks to all members who support the 50/50 Club. If you would like to
join the Club, please contact the Promoter, Myriame Sammons on 01294 469006.
THE QUEEN’S BATON
The Queen's Baton for the Commonwealth Games will arrive in Ardrossan on Tuesday
15 July. Vehicle access to the Church and grounds will be impossible between
about 2.00 and 8.00 pm that day due to South Crescent Road being pedestrian
only. Mass time should be unaffected.
SINGING THE MASS
Singing The Mass is a music workshop for parish musicians, cantors, and people
who enjoy singing. The event will take place in Saint Margaret’s Cathedral,
Ayr on Saturday 23 August from 1.00 pm, beginning with lunch and concluding
with the Vigil Mass at 6.00 pm. During the afternoon, the group will have
the opportunity to prepare in some detail, music for the evening Mass. More
information and booking forms are available at www.GallowayMusic.net.
The Mass of Christ The Saviour by Dan Schutte will be taught in soprano, alto,
tenor and bass parts and used at Mass. It is then hoped that many participants
will travel to Whithorn on Sunday 31 August to lead the music at the annual
pilgrimage Mass at Saint Ninian’s Cave.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO SAINT NINIAN’S CAVE, WHITHORN
The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Saint Ninian's Cave takes place on Sunday 31 August.
Mass will be celebrated at the Cave at 4.00 pm. For those unable to walk the
stony path and beach to the Cave, Mass will be celebrated in the Church in
Whithorn at 4.45 pm.
WHITHORN CAMP
A Whithorn Camp is organised for this summer for over 16s on 30 and 31 August.
As well as the outdoor camping experience, we will explore the history and
spirituality of Saint Ninian. More details can be found at Galloway Catholic
Youth on Facebook, www.GallowayYouth.org.uk
or from Father Stephen McGrattan
on info@rccumnock.org.uk or 01290 421031.

for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme

have a second collection for our Parish Centre upkeep.

Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing
sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores,
Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday
teas.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
