SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers
Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the
Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are
available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

MAINTENANCE
FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's Maintenance Fund collection amounted to £286.56 - many
thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know
if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY
The
Children's Liturgy is celebrated during the 10.30 am Mass each Sunday. All
children are welcome. Next week's helpers are Claire Sweenie and
Linda Martin for the pre-fives, Jacqueline Waugh and
Michelle Champion for primaries 1 and 2, Elaine Shaw and
Maria Paterson for primary 3 and Denise Gilmour and
Laura Hamilton for primary 4.
OUR NEW BISHOP
Bishop William Nolan was been ordained yesterday, Saturday, as our new Bishop.
With all of us he faces a time of change and uncertainty - fewer people attending
Mass, more and more people in need of 'the Joy of the Gospel' fewer resources
for the upkeep of too many Church buildings, fewer priests. Yet we have so
much to be thankful for - the gift of Jesus Himself - always with us, always
calling us forward in hope. May Bishop Nolan have a fruitful and happy ministry
among us. Keep him in your prayers.
50/50 CLUB WINNERS
Congratulations to this month's 50/50 Club winners who each win £25

The Early Bird draw for £50 winner was 200 James Watt. Several members
have still to renew. Please contact the promoter if there is a problem. We
have around forty vacant places over the last year. Anyone wishing to join,

CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK
We will mark Catholic Education Week with our Sunday Mass this weekend. 'Sharing
the Joy of the Gospel' based on the Encyclical of Pope Francis is the theme
for Education Week.
CONFIRMATION
AND FIRST COMMUNION
The Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion will be celebrated this
year at the 10.30 am Mass on Sundays 3, 10 and 17 May, as we have done for
many years. The reason for the three Sundays is so that the children are easily
called by name, have enough room for family and friends and are made to feel
as special as they are. Twenty-nine children are on our list, including those
added recently, so about ten children each Sunday would be comfortable. I
will put a list at the stall for you to choose whichever Sunday suits. I am
happy to add another Sunday or arrange any other date you may require. I know
that family work and travel arrangements can be difficult. Just let me know.
The meeting for parents has been postponed till after
I have my ankle surgery. I'm sorry about this. I have been told it will be
done soon so it might coincide with the meeting! I will re-arrange before
Easter.
BLOOD TRANSFUSION SERVICE
The Blood Transusion Service will be at the Civic centre, Glasgow on Tuesday
and Wednesday of this week. The times are on the poster in the porch.
TAIZE PRAYER SERVICE
There will be a Taize Prayer Service on Wednesday 4 March at 7.30 pm in Saint
Andrew’s Episcopal Church, South Crescent Road. It is an hour of quiet prayer
and music for Lent and thoroughly recommended.

RACE NIGHT
FOR HCPT LOURDES GROUP 376
A Race Night for HCPT - The Pilgrimage Trust will be held on Friday 13 February
2015 in the Civic Centre, Ardrossan with the first race at 8.00 pm. For tickets,

HCPT BLINGO
NIGHT
A Blingo Night will be held on Friday 27 February at 7.00 pm in the Parish
Centre to raise funds for HCPT who are taking handicapped children to Lourdes
at Easter. This is being organised by Krista Ward, a sixth year pupil at Saint
Matthew's Academy, Saltcoats
as part of her Leadership Award. Please come along and embrace the glitz and
glamour and if you’re sporting the most bling you can win the Bling King or
Queen prize! Entry costs £5 for under 18s and £7.50 per adult
which includes full bingo games book, Irish standing bingo ticket, tea or
coffee with cake and for the adults a glass of Buck’s Fizz on arrival. Tickets
are available from the school office on 606689 or from Krista on StMatthews@ea.n-ayrshire.sch.uk.
THE WHITE MASS
The White Mass for Catholic Health Care Workers and others involved in the
pastoral care of the sick will be celebrat-ed in Saint Andrew’s Metropolitan
Cathedral, Glasgow, on Sunday 15 February at 12 noon. Refreshments will be
available in the Eyre Hall after the Mass. Everyone is welcome to this Mass.
FAMILY PRIZE BINGO
A Family Bingo supporting Youth for Lourdes will be held in the Parish Centre
on Saturday 21 March at 7.00 pm. Tickets cost £1 and a fun night is
promised.
SAINT PETER'S PARENT COUNCIL RACE NIGHT
Saint Peter’s Primary School Parent Council is having a Race Night in the
Parish Centre on Friday 27 March. Full details will be given later.
EMBRACING CHANGE
A
Summary of the Meeting of the Deanery Priests on 18 November 2014 and
a
Summary of the Meeting in Saint Matthew's Academy on 30 November 2014
are now posted on Saint Peter's website. If you would like a copy, please
ask and I will print one for you. The idea was to look at themes produced
by previous meetings and then move on to some practical ideas we might try
to carry out as we look for a way forward. Many ideas were put forward. The
report is now being discussed by the Priests and we hope to move forward with
some of the ideas. The whole purpose of Embracing Change is to move our ideas
forward - to get away from a Church where decisions, plans, ideas and so on,
are made by one person or a few people - to a Church fully involving everyone
who wants to contribute. It calls for a new way of being Church. It might
mean giving up old traditions, ways of doing things, even buildings and embracing
new ideas about what Jesus is asking of us and where the Spirit is leading
us. Pope Francis seems fearless in moving forward, we must be too.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 6 to 13 July 2015.
Full details are on the poster at the Stall where booking forms are available.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for our Parish Centre upkeep.
