If you can manage a little more from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church. We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every £1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation. There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL LENTEN APPEAL FOR TOILETRIES
During the weeks of Lent, the
Saint Vincent de Paul Society is once again asking the parishioners of Saint Peter’s to donate both male and female toiletries for use in the Ozanam Centre in Glasgow. The Ozanam Centre assists the homeless, both male and female, so any donations of toiletries would be very gratefully received. A box will be placed in the Church porch for any donations and we hope that we can rely on your usual very generous support. Thank you.

GARDEN OF REMEMBRANCE
North Ayrshire Council has a proposal to upgrade and resite the war memorial in Glasgow Street and create a memorial garden to mark the seventieth anniversary of the war. There will be more news as it goes ahead.

CONFIRMATION AND FIRST COMMUNION
The Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion will be celebrated this year at the 10.30 am Mass on Sundays 3, 10 and 17 May, as we have done for many years. The reason for the three Sundays is so that the children are easily called by name, have enough room for family and friends and are made to feel as special as they are. Twenty-nine children are on our list, including those added recently, so about ten children each Sunday would be comfortable. I will put a list at the stall for you to choose whichever Sunday suits. I am happy to add another Sunday or arrange any other date you may require. I know that family work and travel arrangements can be difficult. Just let me know if none of the dates suit. The meeting for parents has been postponed till I recover from my ankle surgery. I'm sorry about this. I will re-arrange before Easter.

YOUTH 4 LIFE SCOTLAND
Bishop John Keenan of Paisley will be the keynote speaker at the launch of a new pro-life organisation, Youth 4 Life Scotland, aimed at young people aged between thirteen and nineteen. The event will take place in Turnbull Hall, 13-15 Southpark Terrace, Glasgow, G12 8LG and will run from 6.00 to 8.00 pm on 30 April. It will provide information and more on the pro-life movement, especially for young people.

HMS DASHER WEEKEND
The annual service to commemorate the sinking of HMS Dasher takes place on Sunday 29 March, Palm Sunday, at 11.30 am. Canon Matt leads it each year. Everyone is welcome to join the 9.45 am sailing to Arran on the Saturday. The ship will halt over the spot where
Dasher sank. This is a short service. All you need do is buy a ticket and come back on the return sailing.

A THOUGHT FROM POPE FRANCIS
To be able to confess our sins is a gift from God. "The Sacrament of Reconciliation enables us to draw near to the Father trustfully, to have the certainty of his forgiveness. He is truly 'rich in mercy' and he extends it abundantly to those who turn to him with a sincere heart” said the Pope in his homily during the penitential celebration in Saint Peter's Basilica on Friday afternoon. “The transformation of the heart that leads us to confess our sins is a gift from God - it is 'His work'” he continued. “As we leave the confessional, we know his strength that restores life and rekindles the enthusiasm of faith. After confession we are reborn”. “Jesus' call impels us all not to stop at the surface of things, especially when facing a person. We are called to look beyond, to focus on the heart to see how much generosity each person is capable of. No one must be excluded from God's mercy. Everyone knows that the way to reach it and the Church is the house that welcomes all and refuses no one. Its doors are always wide open so that those who are touched by grace may find the certainty of forgiveness. The greater the sin, the greater the love must be that the Church expresses towards those who convert”.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for our Parish Centre upkeep.
