Mass times in other local parishes can be
seen here. Some
of the parishioners of Saint
John’s and Saint
Mary’s may well find the Mass times here more suitable for them. Please
be sure to make them welcome and assist them in any way you can.
SACRAMENT
OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
HOSPITAL
CHAPLAINCY
If a member of your family or a friend is sick, please let us know and give
us the details. Deacon Bill Corbett (01292 521208, 07904 248948, Rev.BillCorbett@btinternet.com)
is the chaplain to Crosshouse Hospital and is assisted by the priest on call
each week. Canon Pat Keegans (01292 263488) is the chaplain to Ayr Hospital
and the Ayrshire Hospice.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the Parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers
Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the
Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are
available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £749.98 - many thanks.
MAINTENANCE
FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's Maintainance Fund collection amounted to £282.35 - many
thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know
if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.
PARISH RECORDS
Our parish records are badly out of date with people making this their 'parish
of choice', moving house et cetera. I would be grateful if you would fill
in one of the cards now available at the back of the Church and drop it in
to the collection bag. Thanks.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY
The
Children's Liturgy is normally celebrated during the 10.30 am Mass each Sunday
but has closed for the summer holiday. It will resume in September.
HOLIDAY
Saint Winin’s Church, Kilwinning is running a coach to Blackpool from Monday
21 to Friday 25 September. We will be staying at the Norbreck Castle Hotel
on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. There will be two full day excursions.
The cost for a twin room is £179 and for a single £239. Anyone
interested, please contact Father Gerry
Magee.
ROSARIES ABROAD
The Catenian Association send used rosaries to the poor parts of the world.
If you have any lying about the house, they would be glad to receive them.
There will be a box at the stall.
TEN YEARS OF SAINT PETER’S WEBSITE
Saint Peter’s website is ten years old having been launched on 13 July 2005.
The site, which has been visited more than 130000 times, has over 2300 web
pages, 1400 pictures, 580 bulletins between 1960 and 2015, 23000 links, some
audio and video clips and been viewed in over 100 countries worldwide. Over
1350 of our deceased relatives and friends are remembered in our Anniversary
List and some are featured in our Memoriam Cards page. The site contains many
articles on past and present spiritual and community life in Saint Peter's.
Canon Matt and the website author are very grateful to those who have accessed
the site, lent photographs, passed on stories, identified errors, made suggestions
and expressed compliments. The aims of the site are to make parishioners and
others aware of current events and record our history. If you can help with

EMBRACING CHANGE
The process of Embracing Change is continuing. Various groups are meeting.
The Option For The Poor group continues its work with the Food Bank in Saint
John’s with a study of Pope
Francis’ Encyclical. Laudato Si is working towards a sustainable
world for all God’s Children and the Holy Father’s Decree for a Year of Mercy.
The Spirituality Group continues to look at ways to reinvigorate the spiritual
life of the Deanery. The Formation For Ministry group will meet again shortly
to look at ways to assist those who minister in Church by reading, assisting
Eucharistic Ministers, encouraging the formation of the Diaconate and other
forms of ministry in the Church. Shortly there will be a newsletter outlining
progress so far and inviting everyone to take part in a short presentation
on the Year of Mercy and discover what Pope
Francis asks of the members of the Church. The evening presentation
- in each parish - will be an invitation to everyone to get more involved.
50/50 CLUB
The 50/50 Club has quite a few numbers now vacant. Those who did not renew
for 2015 for various reasons - this happens from time to time - but we appreciate
and thank all our members for their continuing support over the years. New
members are very welcome. To join please contact the Promoter or pick up a
membership form in the porch to join.
GARDEN OF REMEMBRANCE
North Ayrshire Council has agreed to take on the major funding of improvements
to the Garden of Remembrance in Glasgow Street, making the garden more accessible,
improving the layout, and making it a place of quiet and dignity. Some community
funding is also required and has begun. I have pledged the support of our
parish community.
DIOCESAN
PILGRIMAGE TO ROME FOR THE HOLY YEAR OF MERCY
There will be a diocesan pilgrimage to Rome from Thursday 2 June to Thursday
9 June 2016. Details are on the poster.
MARY'S
MEALS FABRIC COLLECTION
The team from Mary’s
Meals will make the annual fabric - only! - collection over the weekend
of 5 and 6 September.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for our Parish Centre upkeep.
