Mary Colvin 2000, Jane Coulter 1998, Dan Donnelly 1941, Chrissie Ferguson
2006, Joseph Harvey 1998, Harry Kemp 1972, Shannon McTaggart 1996, Maureen

1987, John Petrie 1966, Bruce Gallacher 1995, Robert Ireland 2008 and James
McKay 1992 whose anniversaries occur at this time and those who are sick.
If deceased members of your family are not on our anniversary
list, please tell Canon
Matt, the parish office or
contact WebsiteAuthor@SaintPeterinChains.net.
SUNDAY MASS TIMES
Sunday Mass times
in Saint Peter's are 5.30 pm Vigil and 10.30 am. Sunday
Mass times in other local parishes can be
seen here.
SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
HOSPITAL
CHAPLAINCY
If a member of your family or a friend is sick, please let us know and give
us the details. Deacon Bill Corbett (01292 521208, 07904 248948, Rev.BillCorbett@btinternet.com)
is the chaplain to Crosshouse Hospital and is assisted by the priest on call
each week. Canon Pat Keegans is the chaplain to Ayr Hospital and the Ayrshire
Hospice.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the Parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. We are grateful for your generous support in collections. If you can
manage a little more from time to time, it would be a great help. A Standing
Order would make the handling of money so much easier. Have you signed a Gift
Aid form? If you are a taxpayer the Church would get 25p added to every £1
you donate.
COLLECTIONS
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £606.83 and the Maintenance
Fund collection to £269.41. £50 was donated to the previous week's
Retired Priests' Fund collection - many thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
PARISH RECORDS
Our parish records are covered by the Data Protection Act and are for parish
use only. We cannot give out phone numbers or addresses. Please help us to
keep our records up to date using the cards provided.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Margaret Munn at 5.30 pm and Alfie
Agostini at 10.30 am.
ALTAR SERVERS
Please could all Altar Servers collect the new rota from the sacristy?
Could you please leave either an email or postal address for future rotas
as due to unforeseen circumstances information previously held is unavailable
to us. Next weekend's altar servers are Group 1 at 5.30 pm
and Group 2 at 10.30 am.
CHILDREN’S
LITURGY
As we begin our new term of Children's Liturgy, we would like to welcome all
nursery and primary 1 to 3 children to join us during the 10.30 am Sunday
Mass. Our Primary 4 group will begin on 30 October after their Presentation
Sunday which will be arranged soon. We
are looking for volunteers to help support these groups to help us keep the
wonderful programme for the children we have in this parish. If you would
like to volunteer or would just like more information, please contact Michelle
at the Parish Office on 464063. Thank you. Next week's helpers are Geraldine
Butcher and
Maria Paterson-Kidd for the pre-fives and Claire Sweenie, Linda Martin and
Teresa Louden for Primaries 1, 2 and 3.
SUNDAY
TEAS
We
are very short of Sunday Tea teams. Is there any chance of a group of friends
forming a team? It would be a shame to lose the Sunday Teas altogether. Would
you consider making a team or joining a team that organises the teas and coffees
after Sunday 10.30 am Mass? If so, please leave your details at the Parish
Office or telephone 01294 464063.
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Maria Boyle's team.
MY RETIREMENT
As you know, I have passed the retirement age. Bishop
William has promised to give Saint Peter's a replacement priest. The Diocese
has purchased a house in the Three Towns, at my request, and over the next
few months I will be preparing it - and myself - for retirement. I hope to
remain in Saint Peter's till the autumn of 2017 and then help out in the Three
Towns as best I can. After fifty-two years of priesthood and six in the seminary,
it is daunting prospect.
THE TWO CATHERINES
Catherine Boyd and Catherine Kerr have played and sung at the Sunday morning
Mass for over thirty years and now feel it is time to hang up their metronomes.
We are grateful for so many years faithful service and thank them sincerely.
It leaves a gap. Music is an essential part of Mass. Are there any budding
musicians willing to offer their talent and service?
CHILDREN ENROLLING FOR THE SACRAMENTS
The children of our parish who are old enough will be Confirmed by Bishop
William on Friday 17 February at 7.00 pm and will receive Holy Communion
for the first time at a Sunday Mass in May. The dates will be arranged. The
Ceremony of Enrolment will take place at the 10.30 am Mass on Sunday 23 October.
This is later than planned - blame the holiday! The Sunday Readings et cetera
for Primary 4 will begin then.
MAKE A WILL FORTNIGHT
Taylor and Henderson of Saltcoats will help you make a will between 17 and
31 October in exchange for a donation to the Ayrshire Hospice. You can make
an appointment by telephoneing 01294 464341. You know you should.
ANNUAL MASS FOR TEACHERS AND PARENT COUNCIL MEMBERS
Bishop William will celebrate the
Annual Teachers' Mass in Saint
John’s Church, Stevenston on Tuesday 15 November at 7.00 pm
IGNATIAN
PRAYER GROUP
The first Ignatian Prayer Group commenced on last Wednesday at 7.30 pm and
will continue on the first Wednesday of each month. The second Group will
commence on Tuesday 13 September at 7.30 pm and will continue on the second
Tuesday of each month thereafter.
EMBRACING
CHANGE MASS AND THE SACRAMENT OF THE SICK
Mass and the Sacrament of the Sick will be celebrated in Sacrament of the
Sick in Saint Mary's
Church, Largs next Sunday, 16 October at 3.00 pm. Everyone is invited.
It is an extra Sunday Mass. Try to let me know if you are going.
EMBRACING CHANGE IN THE YEAR OF MERCY - YOUTH EVENT
On Sunday 30 October, there will be a Youth Event at Cecchini's, 5 Dock Road,
Ardrossan, from 1.30 to 3.30 pm. This is part of the Year of Mercy programme
organised by the Spirituality Group as part of the Embracing Change process
in this Deanery. Admission is free and the event will draw from a document
which has been coproduced by the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund
called Rediscovering Mercy. A buffet meal will be provided and there will
be time for some socialising together. The target group is those aged fifteen
to eighteen or in fourth, fifth or sixth year at school, university or college.
Those who wish to attend should contact Josie McPherson on Facebook for catering
purposes.
EMBRACING CHANGE - CLOSING OF THE HOLY YEAR OF MERCY
The Closing of the Holy Year of Mercy will take place in Saint
Brigid's Church, Kilbirnie on 28 November. Details will be given later.
SAINT MATTHEW'S ACADEMY MALAWI GROUP
Saint
Matthew's Academy, Saltcoats is holding a Race
Night on Friday 11 November at 7.00 pm in Saint Mary's Parish Hall, Saltcoats.
Funds are for the school's visit to the partner school in Malawi. Tickets,
which are available at the door, cost £3 for adults and £2 concession.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for Church maintenance.
ADVERTISER SUPPORT
Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing
sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores,
Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday
teas.
PROTECTION
OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
