in Saint Peter's are 5.30 pm Vigil and 10.30 am. Sunday
Mass times in other local parishes can be
seen here.
SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
HOSPITAL
CHAPLAINCY
If a member of your family or a friend is sick, please let us know and give
us the details. Deacon Bill Corbett (01292 521208, 07904 248948, Rev.BillCorbett@btinternet.com)
is the chaplain to Crosshouse Hospital and is assisted by the priest on call
each week.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the Parish and Parish Centre amount to £3500 per
month. We are grateful for your generous support in collections. If you can
manage a little more from time to time, it would be a great help. A Standing
Order would make the handling of money so much easier. Have you signed a Gift
Aid form? If you are a taxpayer the Church would get 25p added to every £1
you donate.
COLLECTIONS
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £633.19 and the Aid
to the Church in Need collection to £1126.40 - many thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
PARISH RECORDS
Our parish records are covered by the Data Protection Act and are for parish
use only. We cannot give out phone numbers or addresses. Please help us to
keep our records up to date using the cards provided.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Harry Sammons at 5.30 pm and Margaret
Brawley at 10.30 am.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 1 at 5.30
pm and Group 2 at 10.30 am.
CHILDREN’S
LITURGY

Waugh and Emma Paterson for the pre-fives and Claire Sweenie and Linda Martin
for Primaries 1, 2 and 3.

Sunday's teas will be served by Sharon McLaughlin's team.
50/50
CLUB
Many thanks to all our members for their continued support. We welcome two
new members this month and wish them good luck in next month's draw.
GLASGOW PHOENIX
CHOIR
Glasgow Phoenix Choir will be performing a concert in Saint Columba's Church,
Largs on Sunday 18 June at 2.30 pm to raise funds for the Saint Columba's
Heritage Centre with special guests, the Oban Gaelic Choir. Tickets, costing
£10, are available from the church on Sundays, Saint Columba's Heritage
Centre and the Best Fruit Company, 10 Tron Place, Largs, KA30 8AK.
SAINT MARY'S LOURDES GROUP
Saint Mary's Lourdes Group asks for your support for a Coffee Morning and
Table Top Sale on Saturday 24 June at 10.30 am in St Mary's Parish Hall, Saltcoats.
Admission costs £1 and gets you tea, scone and cake.
SPIRIT OF YOUTH PRODUCTIONS
Spirit of Youth productions are confidence-building drama workshops. All classes
will be held in the Parish Centre meeting rooms next to the main hall. New
first year to third year pupils meet on Monday 3 July and every Monday thereafter
at 6.15 to 8.15 pm for the remainder of the summer holiday. The cost is £7
per week. New primary four to seven pupils meet on Thursday 6 July and every
Thursday thereafter at 6.15 to 8.15 pm for the remainder of the summer holiday.
The cost is £6 per week. Discounts are available for parents with more
than one child attending the classes. Booking is essential. Please contact
07894 543983 or jenniferhamilton21@hotmail.com.
NORTH AYRSHIRE FOODBANK
North Ayrshire Foodbank is currently experiencing a dramatic reduction in
stock to provide emergency food to those experiencing a food crisis. We would
welcome the support of the congregation of Saint Peter in Chains. The items
we are always particularly short of are tinned meat such as mince, Irish stew,
chicken in white sauce, long life fruit juice and tinned rice pudding. There
will be a box in the Church porch over the next two weeks for any donations
which can also be handed into the Church of the Nazarene Foodbank in Glasgow
Street. We thank everyone who can consider a compassionate donation.
Craig Crosthwaite and Michael McCulloch, North Ayrshire Foodbank
MARY'S MEALS BACKPACK APPEAL
Thank you for your generosity in the past. We are still collecting all items
listed in the magazine but are particularly looking for the following items
- coloured pencils, pencil cases, sharpeners, twelve inch rulers, dessert
spoons and tennis balls or balls of a similar size. Please put any items in
the blue box marked Mary's Meals in the Church porch.
EMBRACING CHANGE - CERTIFICATE IN PARISH MISSION AND MINISTRY
This course is done at home, at your own pace, and it is hoped it will equip
many more people to take on ministries within the parish and deanery. We are
seriously embracing the future. The meeting in Saltcoats at the end of May
was extremely well attended and more than forty people have already signed
up to do the course. If you did not sign up on the night or were not able
to attend the meeting but want to do the course, you can very easily find
a copy of the application form on the Maryvale website. Maryvale is the name
of the Institute in Birmingham which runs this and a whole series of other
courses. The address is
https://www.maryvale.ac.uk/certificate-in-parish-mission-and-ministry.html.
There are also application forms at the back of the Church.
HOMELESSNESS IN NORTH AYRSHIRE
Many thanks for your past generosity. There is an ongoing need to provide
basics for people who become homeless. During May and June, we are appealing
for toiletries. Suggestions are toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, disposable
razors and toilet bags. A fuller list is on the box at the back of the Church
and on the website.
SAINT MATTHEW'S ACADEMY BOOK AMNESTY
Could parents and students please look once more for any forgotten or unreturned
books, novels or resources which belong to the school? These can be returned
to Miss Murray, to the relevant department or placed in the red box in the
school lobby. Replacing unreturned books is a significant cost and effectively
wastes money that could be for other activities and events.
SAINT PETER'S CHILDREN'S CENTRE NURSERY AND SCALLYWAGS AFTERCARE
Free nursery places available for children who are three years old before
1 March 2018. Staff are fully qualified staff to degree level. The Centre
is Education Scotland and Care Inspectorate Inspected. For further information,
please phone Josephine Coulter on 602179 or 473030 or email StPetersChildrensCentre@yahoo.co.uk.
The following will be open in the Parish Centre during term time:
Saint Peter's Children's Centre Nursery
- Monday to Friday, 8.50 am to 12 noon,
three to five years Nursery
- Tuesday to Thursday, 1.00 to 3.00 pm,
two to three years Nursery
Scallywags Aftercare

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for Church maintenance.
ADVERTISER SUPPORT
Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing
sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores,
Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday
teas.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
