FATHER HENRY McFARLANE

Henry Joseph McFarlane was born in 1943 in Ayrshire.  His parents were James McFarlane (1910-1976),
Head Teacher of Saint John's Primary School, Stevenston, and his wife Margarert Patton (1909-1994), known to the family as Daisy. He studied for the priesthood at Saint Mary's College, Blairs, Aberdeen and the Royal Scots College (Real Colegio de Escoceses) in Valladolid, Spain.

Henry was the first parishioner to be ordained in Saint Peter's Church. The ordination, by Bishop Joseph McGee, took place on 1 July 1967. Subsequently, Father McFarlane took up an appointment at Saint Mary's Church in Irvine till 1969. He left the priesthood in 1972.
